Private tutor in Wichita Falls, TX

Education

Graduated with a 3.73 GPA from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas with a double major in mathematics and physics.

Experience

I am the owning director of Math Like This, a supplemental education service in Wichita Falls. I was previously the Assistant Director of the local Mathnasium before it closed. Please feel free to check out our website www.mathlikethis.com as well for more information. I have graduated High School, and taken the following college courses: College Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus I, Calculus II, Calculus III, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, Intro to Modern Mathematics, Abstract Algebra I, Abstract Algebra II, Statistics I, Statistics II, Introductory Analysis I, Introductory Analysis II, Theory of Numbers, and Complex Analysis. I taught the physics labs at MSU for three years which involved instructional time as well as setting up and maintaining the lab work. Also, I would answer questions during the assigned worksheet and provide help to struggling students. I worked as a tutor in the math help lab at MSU for two years giving one-on-one help to students in classes ranging from college algebra to differential equations. For the last five years I have worked as a private tutor, as well. During that time I have been recommended by my professors to numerous college students, many high school students, and some people studying for their GED or college entrance exam. From February 2012 until December 2012, I was also a tutor/instructor at Sylvan Learning Center in Wichita Falls. During that time I taught lessons intended to give extra practice to students ranging from 2nd grade up to seniors in high school (classes included Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, and AP courses). I was part of both an SAT prep course and an ACT prep course to prepare juniors and seniors for the exam. Also a number of college students enrolled for extra homework help. From August of 2013 to April of 2015, I served as Lead Instructor at Mathnasium of Glenview in Glenview, Illinois. Beginning in June of 2014 I also began training other instructors as the Director of Training for not only Glenview but also Kenilworth and Lake Forest. During this time I learned the Mathnasium method and practiced teaching number sense to children ranging from Pre-K through college level.

Hobbies

Hiking, reading, movies, writing, poetry, building and woodwork, welding, volunteering at my church youth group, astronomy, history, physics, cooking I enjoy helping. My passion is not for math, but to help others understand both its necessity in life and the pleasure of using it to solve problems. Working with others involved in math at any level can be a fun experience if handled right, and I love to see those I help walk away smiling after finally understanding what they study. I am available to meet at any public place, but also can come to a student's home should the need arise. Starbucks is usually a good place due to the WiFi needs of many students online supplemental materials. I do have my own tablet and hotspot should the need arise during lessons.
